While Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan are raking in all the applause for ‘Dear Zindagi’, the Bollywood film’s makers could land in a legal soup. Reports suggest that celebs and cinema stars filled ‘Dear Zindagi’ is heavily copied from the comedy-drama TV series ‘Being Erica’. The makers of this Canadian TV show have slapped a notice of plagiarism on the producer Dharma Productions. Gauri Shinde, who is the writer, director and co-producer of this Bollywood project has refuted all such rumours of copyright infringement. Similarities are being drawn between Kiara played by Alia Bhatt and Erica of the show, as well as her ‘dimaag ka’ doctor Shah Rukh Khan and Dr Tom from ‘Being Erica’.

Ironically, Gauri Shinde has faced plagiarism allegations even before ‘Dear Zindagi’. When her debut directorial ‘English Vinglish’ released, parallels were drawn between Sridevi’s English learning sequence and another successful television series ‘Mind Your Language’, which was about a diverse group of people learning English.
