Arvind Swamy, in films like ‘Roja’ and ‘Bombay’, came across as a promising Bollywood hero. However, this celeb of the cinema world suddenly disappeared from the industry with his last Bollywood film being ‘Raja Ko Rani Se Pyar Ho Gaya’ in 2000. “I had quit films because I wanted to do other things. I started off at an early age, at 21, I did ‘Roja’. I did not want to get caught in one profession, films is not the only thing I wanted to do in my life. I wanted to experience other things, even had a few ideas and wanted to explore other businesses,” says Arvind Swamy.
While he was away from the glamour world, Arvind Swamy indulged in many other things. “I also wanted to be a full time parent and balance my time with my kids. So for about 10 years my primary thing was my kids. Also, I play a lot of video games online, so a lot of my time went in that as well,” says the actor. After a gap of almost 15 years, Arvind Swamy is now making a comeback in Bollywood with ‘Dear Dad’. He adds, “This can be called as my second innings. The story, character and situation of ‘Dear Dad’ were pretty complex. It was extremely out of my comfort zone, which was a challenge.”
Arvind Swamy will also be doing a few Tamil movies as this actor hails from South. “I am doing roles that people don’t expect me to do. There is a quest to try and convincingly play a character, which makes this journey more interesting for me,” concludes the Bollywood actor.
