Arjun Kapoor leaves Farzi; is A Gentleman failure the reason?
Although nobody is ready to spill the beans on the real reason, ‘A Gentleman’s’ failure is being murmured as Arjun Kapoor’s turning ‘Farzi’ down. Both the films are by director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK
Arjun Kapoor was considering to give a nod to play the lead role in Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s next heist film titled ‘Farzi’. But now the celebrity star has cited date issues and has walked out of the project. However, an insider informs that Arjun Kapoor got cold feet after Raj and DK’s latest outing, ‘A Gentleman’, fell flat at the Box Office. “Arjun was in talks for ‘Farzi’, until recently. But then the director duo’s ‘A Gentleman’, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez, released last week, and tanked at the Box Office. As reports started trickling in, Arjun felt that at this point in his career, it wouldn’t be wise for him to act in a heist film. The ‘Farzi’ project hadn’t gone beyond an offer, and due to factors that didn’t align, Arjun decided not to take it up,” revealed a source to a tabloid.
Being a producer’s son, Arjun decided not to leave the makers of ‘Farzi’ in a lurch and suggested his cousin Harshvardhan Kapoor’s name for the film after walking out. Filmmaker Nidimoru confirmed the development stating, “Yes, we were in talks for ‘Farzi’ with Shahid Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, but the talks were at initial stages, and they fell through. Then we got busy with the release of ‘A Gentleman’. We are now figuring out how to take things forward and which actor to approach. As far as casting Harsh is concerned, it is too early to talk about it.”
Arjun Kapoor is currently preparing for Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar’ and is keen to take up a romantic comedy like ‘Namastey Canada’ as well, which he will begin shooting for next year.
