Leaving behind all criticism, Anupam Kher is basking in the glory of receiving the prestigious Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award. The actor credits his career to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who had explored the talents of Anupam Kher in the very early stage of his life and cast him in a memorable film like ‘Saaransh’. Congratulating Kher, the proud teacher posted on micro-blogging site Twitter, “When the student outshines the teacher – the teacher dances with joy. Anupam, your Padma Bhushan Award has made me so, so proud!” An equally elated Anupam reciprocated with, “There can’t be a bigger achievement/endorsement for a student. Thank you Mahesh Bhatt Saab for ‘Saaransh’ and a career.” Kher ended his post with a smile.
Anupam Kher also visited Mahesh Bhatt to seek blessings with a token of ‘gurudakshina’, to appreciate the latter’s help in launching his career in a big way. In the past too, Anupam Kher has done this several times. The actor had revealed on his talk show, ‘The Anupam Kher Show – Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai’, that whenever he meets his idol, he gives him some money as an expression of gratitude.
