Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor’s much anticipated ‘PadMan’ finally hit the screens this February and started off well at the box office, raking in Rs 10.26 crore on the first day of its release. ‘PadMan’ released on 2,750 screens across India and picked up pace over the weekend, recording a collection of Rs 13.68 crore on Saturday and Rs 16 crore on Sunday. This marked a total of approximately Rs 40 crore by its opening weekend. ‘PadMan’ is produced by Twinkle Khanna and is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 90 crore. Directed by R Balki, the film focuses on menstruation and sanitary napkins and is based on Arunachalam Muruganantham, who invented a low-cost sanitary napkin-producing machine.
