Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, before playing the character of Dalbir Kaur in Sarabjit biopic in Bollywood, titled ‘Sarbjit’, had apparently come across a petition for his release. The actress says, “A petition was going around to some of us who belonged to the public platform, one of them being me. I too was amongst the few to whom the petition came, possibly Dalbirji was trying every possible thing to bring people’s attention to work at his release.” And when the Bollywood film’s director Omung Kumar approached the actress for ‘Sarbjit’, she knew that stars were aligned in some magical way. Aishwarya says, “This is some kind of divine calling but it was already a yes from my side. I was definitely going to be on board because somehow his life and mine had crossed. Unfortunately Sarabjit came to India in a coffin and the only thing I could do was to pay ode and last respects.”
