On the occasion of International Women’s Day today, one of the biggest Bollywood celebrities Shah Rukh Khan took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express his gratitude for the female gender. The actor posted, “Often I wish I was a woman… then realise I don’t have enough guts, talent, sense of sacrifice, selfless love or beauty to be one. Thank you, girls.” The Bollywood actor is a proud father of an adorable daughter Suhana about whom he is very protective. It was apparently for his daughter that SRK picked up a fight at the Wankhede Stadium during an IPL match in 2012. Bollywood’s top star is not just fiercely protective about the ladies at home but also has immense respect for them in his professional life too.
A couple of years back, on the occasion of Women’s Day, Shah Rukh Khan had pledged that starting from ‘Chennai Express’ all the credit rolls in his future Bollywood projects will not feature his name first, rather that of his leading actress. As people applauded SRK’s this move back then, the trend still continues. The usual practice has been that of an actor’s name appearing before the female lead, unless it is a completely woman-centric film. Doing his bit for the women empowerment, leading Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has also shot for a short film with R Balki, which released on Women’s Day in 2013.
