While Priyanka Chopra is away and busy working on her Hollywood ambitions, her upcoming Hindi film ‘Jai GangaaJal’ is in trouble. The Patna High Court has issued a notice to filmmaker Prakash Jha and his production house Prakash Jha Productions following a petition filed by BJP MLA Nitin Navin who alleges that ‘Jai GangaaJal’ tarnishes his image. It has been alleged that the character of the villain of ‘Jai GangaaJal’, played by Manav Kaul, reflects that of the MLA from Bankipore, the petitioner. ‘Jai GangaaJal’ is high on political drama and is all set to hit the screens on March 4. It remains to be seen if this legal trouble will hinder the film from releasing in Bihar or will there be a blanket ban, if at all.
‘Jai GangaaJal’ has Priyanka Chopra playing the hard hitting police officer in the form of SP Abha Mathur, while Jha himself too stars in the film. This cop cinema will look at the in-depth view of the social-political situation. ‘GangaaJal’, starring Ajay Devgn as the strict police officer released in 2003. It is after more than a decade that Prakash Jha has come up with a second part in the series, but ‘Jai GangaaJal’ is not a sequel.
