Sonu Sood was in for a surprise when the Income Tax (I-T) officials came vising his house and offices last week. The officers maintained that it was just a survey but the entire exercise went on even the next day. Murmurs then started that Sonu Sood’s properties were being raided and searched and later the I-T department even claimed tax evasion to the tune of Rs 20 crore!

Despite searches by the income tax department at as many as six places simultaneously, Sonu had kept mum all this while. The actor has finally come out now, saying “You don’t always have to tell your side of the story. Time will. I have pledged myself to the service of the people of India with all my strength and heart. Every rupee in my foundation is awaiting its turn to save a precious life and reach the needy. In addition, on many occasions, I have encouraged brands to donate my endorsement fees for humanitarian causes too, which keeps us going.”

Sonu Sood, taking a little dig at the income tax officials, further added, “I have been busy attending to a few guests hence was unable to be at your service, for the last four days. Here I am back again in all humility. At your humble service, for life. ‘Kar’ bhala, ho bhala. Ant bhale ka bhala. My journey continues… Jai Hind.” In the Hindi couplet which he used tongue-in-cheek, ‘kar’ means tax, sharply pointing out at the government agency.

Allegedly it all started when Sonu decided to become a brand ambassador of a ruling political party’s campaign in Delhi. The outfit in question is a supposedly a rival to the central government. Hence it is being alleged that the ‘raids’ on Sonu Sood’s properties were an act of the central authority. Sood was made the face of the Desh Ke Mentor programme in which he is supposed to mentor poor students in India. Sonu will lend a helping hand with financial aid or any other assistance required to achieve their dreams.
