Sridevi’s performance in ‘Sadma’ (1983) won her a lot of praise. Apparently, a remake of the same is in the pipeline. Buzz is that, ad filmmaker Lloyd Baptista is working on a remake of this Kamal Haasan starrer and Balu Mahendra directed film and is on the lookout for a perfect leading lady.
In ‘Sadma’, Sridevi played the role of a woman suffering from amnesia who behaves like a child, with Kamal Haasan playing her supporting pillar. Reports suggest that Lloyd Baptista wants Vidya Balan to step into the shoes of Sridevi and take up this film. It appears that Vidya, who is a fan of Sridevi, is apprehensive on taking up this project as she believes that no one can match Sridevi’s performance.
Another reason for turning ‘Sadma’ remake down could be that Vidya Balan has her hands full with other projects as well. While she has just completed shooting for a cameo in ‘TE3N’, Vidya will also be shooting for the Geeta Bali biopic. Vidya is also joining hands with her ‘Kahaani’ director Sujoy Ghosh for a sequel to the film.
