Sonam Kapoor may be a true Indian at heart, but she loves thy neighbour also with a lot of affection. Talking about close connect with the country, Sonam says, “I love Pakistan and my films do very well there, two of my best friends are half-Pakistanis.” Her upcoming film ‘Neerja’ is all set to hit the screens worldwide this Friday but news is that it has been banned in Pakistan. A worried Sonam says, “I don’t know why but I hope that the distributors have been spoken to. I have read that the Censor Board has not even seen it yet. But I don’t know if it is true or not because I have not got any official letter.”
‘Neerja’ is based on the real life hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 at the Karachi Airport. It was banned allegedly for showing Pakistan in bad light. In her defence Sonam adds, “I just want to say that Pakistan was one of the first ones to give Neerja Bhanot a bravery award. She got the Tamgha-e-Insaaniyat, which is an award for showing incredible human kindness. She also saved Pakistani lives. So I am quite shocked at this ban, but I just hope that this film is showcased everywhere.”
Always vocal and highly opinionated on most subjects, and openly accepting the same, will Sonam Kapoor be trolled by people on social networking websites for her firing comments on Pakistan and showing her love for the country this time around?
