Krishna Raj Kapoor, wife of the legendary Bollywood actor, late Raj Kapoor, passed away today due to cardiac arrest. Krishna Raj Kapoor passed away on Monday morning around 5 am at the age of 87. The last rites will be performed at the Chembur crematorium in Suburban Mumbai. Raj Kapoor and Krishna Raj tied the knot in 1964 and had five children – Randhir, Rishi, Rajiv Kapoor, Ritu Nanda and Rima Jain. Over the weekend, Rishi Kapoor flew out to America for undisclosed medical treatment but Randhir and Rajiv are in Mumbai for her last rites. Late Krishna Raj Kapoor was always outgoing, from enjoying the family vacations to attending the annual Christmas dinner and even going for film screenings, she always lived her life to the fullest. Late Krishna Raj Kapoor had stepped out for the special screening of her grandson Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Sanju’.
Interestingly, Ranbir Kapoor had moved in with his grandmother Krishna Raj Kapoor at Krishna Raj Cottage in Chembur before she passed away. The palatial bungalow is reportedly spread across 3,000 sq ft. Ranbir had stayed put at his grandparents’ residence while his plush bachelor pad in Bandra was being done by Gauri Khan. It is said that Ranbir was very close to his grandmother, late Krishna Raj Kapoor. From Aamir Khan to Anupam Kher, paying their last respects, condolences and support for the Kapoor family poured in from all quarters on the sad demise of Krishna Raj Kapoor.
