On the launch of Being Human’s e-cycles, Salman Khan reminisces his childhood with father Salim Khan and how his first bicycle ride was on a rented bike costing only 25 paise
Salman Khan launched Being Human e-cycles, which are battery-powered, on the World Environment Day yesterday. At the launch, the celebrity actor went on to reminisce his memories of riding a cycle. Salman said, “My dad (Salim Khan) was struggling as a writer at that time and didn’t do so well. But the first cycle he bought me was a chopper, for Rs 3,000, when his salary at that time would have been about Rs 750-1000. It was really nice of him to do that for me at that time. But my first ride was when dad got a cycle for me on rent for 25 paise!” Salman Khan went on to add how bicycles have been an important part of his Bollywood journey as well, apart from his growing up years. “The cycle journey has continued and I have tried to use a cycle in as many films as possible. From ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ to ‘Kick’ and even in ‘Tubelight’, we have been riding cycles throughout,” said Salman Khan.
Being Human cycles are launched as an effort to contribute for a greener environment. As a responsible citizen, and to contribute towards the society at-large, Sallu and his organisation Being Human are trying to do their bit for the environment. The e-bicycles are priced at a range of Rs 40,000 to Rs 57,000. The environment-friendly bikes will operate on a charged battery pack and will offer a top speed of 25 kmph. Under the Being Human brand, Salman Khan also has a huge range of clothesline. He has opened several apparel stores across the country, and has also ventured into jewellery under the brand name. Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has modelled for the same. E-cycles are another extension to his ever-growing charitable organisation. Though there is no end to this expansion. Salman Khan is also rumoured to launch smart phones from Being Human, however, there has been no official confirmation on that front.
