Salman Khan has filed a caveat in the Supreme Court, urging to be heard before any order is passed with regards to the Maharashtra government’s appeal against the ruling of the Bombay High Court in the infamous 2002 hit-and-run case.
The Maharashtra government has moved the Apex Court against Salman Khan’s acquittal in the 2002 case, in which one person was killed and three others were injured. Salman Khan has filed a caveat petition to allow him a hearing before any order is passed by the SC.
Back in 2002, Salman Khan’s SUV had hit five people sleeping on the pavement near American Express Bakery in Bandra. In May 2015 the City Civil And Sessions Court convicted Salman Khan for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and sentenced him to five years in jail. However, in December 2015 the Bombay High Court acquitted him of all the charges. Though the Khan family heaved a sigh of relief back then, now with the Maharashtra government’s appeal in the Supreme Court against this acquittal, the ghost is back to haunt this Khan-daan.
