Bollywood filmmaker Karim Morani, accused of rape, has been granted anticipatory bail. This will keep the celebrity out of jail at least for some time to come. The co-producer of Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Chennai Express’, Karim Morani had been booked by the Hyderabad Police following a complaint of rape allegations by a 25-year-old girl. The court granted the Bollywood filmmaker bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000. However, Morani will have to be present at all times, as and when required by the investigating officer, for interrogation or questioning. Reports state that the police are investigating Call Detail Record (CDR) between Karim Morani and the victim to establish whether they were indeed together in Hyderabad and Mumbai when the alleged sexual exploitation took place at a studio in 2015.
Karim Morani was booked under IPC section 417 (cheating), section 376 (rape), section 342 (wrongful confinement), section 506 (criminal intimidation) and other relevant sections by the police. Morani’s spokesperson had then stated that the rape complaint was “false and bogus”, filed with the intention of tarnishing the filmmaker’s image.
