Katrina Kaif, whose love life with Ranbir Kapoor is much talked about, is gearing up for upcoming film ‘Fitoor’. Katrina plays the lead role opposite Aditya Roy Kapur in the Abhishek Kapoor film, which is an adaptation of ‘Great Expectations’. Katrina has great expectation from ‘Fitoor’ as it is going to be one intense love story. And being in love helped her play the role beautifully. Katrina says, “I think it really helps if you believe in love. Love is life and love is passion. For me that conviction works.” ‘Fitoor’ also stars Tabu in a pivotal role.
Katrina will be romancing Aditya Roy Kapur for the first time in ‘Fitoor’. Apparently, the duo has shot for a commercial almost a decade ago and has been spotted partying with various groups several times. Katrina says, “About 11 years ago Aditya and I had done an advertisement together. We realised that we have worked together long back when we started shooting for the film. When I read the script, I was really excited to work with Aditya. It was after a few days that we connected and understood each other very well.”
One of the much seasoned stars of Bollywood, Tabu will be playing the role of Katrina’s mother in ‘Fitoor’. The two actresses seemed to share an earnest relationship. “The hardest bit of acting I had to do was to pretend that Tabu is my mother because she does not look like one. She is like a friend. We used to spend a lot of time talking. She is one of the warmest people, down to earth and gentle. Those conversations we had are some of my warmest memories from the film. As an actor she is phenomenal. You have to take efforts to remember to not get lost in their performance, but rather contribute to theirs,” says Katrina about what powerhouse performer Tabu is.
The character of Firdaus, depicted by Katrina Kaif in ‘Fitoor’, was very complex, and hence a deciding factor for the actress to take up the project. “One of the reasons why I was so drawn to the role is that Firdaus has been raised to have a mind, almost like a man. She has a mind which is so unlike mine. I think that was very interesting… something which was very interesting to explore,” describes Katrina. The actress put in a lot of efforts to perfect her approach for the film. “The most important thing for me was to try and understand the mind of this girl Firdaus. She has always been a complicated character. She is manipulative and has her reasons for doing certain things. Adi and I spent some time trying to understand the characters. Also, I try to work on my scenes with coaches and spend time understanding the role with the director,” says Katty.
Katrina’s love life too has been a subject of rumoured up and downs, be it with Ranbir Kapoor or Salman Khan. Pouring feelings of her heart out, but without naming anyone, she says, “I think every relationship and love story have their own conflicts. Sometimes it can be a conflict because of a third party or at times it can be due to uncertainty. It can even be commitment related or any other kind. It just depends on whom you are in love with.” As sexy she may look in films or during public appearances, off screen, Katrina confesses to being a lovey-dovey person. “I am a die-hard romantic and this love story has always been one of my favourites. I think it is one of the most romantic stories in literature,” signs off Katrina giving us many reasons to catch ‘Fitoor’ on February 12.
