Director Ashutosh Gowariker returned to acting with Priyanka Chopra’s maiden Marathi production ‘Ventilator’. The last acting stint in a movie for this celeb and cinema director was in ‘Jaat’, a 1988 Haryanvi film. “I am returning to the silver screen after 18 years. There is a lot of anticipation. The audiences have liked my previous films, so I hope people accept me once again as an actor,” says Ashutosh, the actor-cum-filmmaker. Ashutosh had first refused to do ‘Ventilator’ as he was busy making his magnum opus ‘Mohenjo Daro’. “I had no intention of becoming an actor again. I was happy being a director. But Rajesh (Mapuskar) came to me with the script and offered me this character. My first reaction was that I was making ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and wasn’t sure if I would be able to give it that much attention. But he decided to wait for six months after which I finally agreed,” adds Gowariker. For now, Ashutosh Gowariker is busy scripting his next and is open to more acting offers after ‘Ventilator’!

While Ashutosh Gowariker has again turned an actor, Priyanka Chopra has donned producer’s hat for ‘Ventilator’, and even sung a song ‘Baba’ in the Marathi film.
